The Singapore Youth Delegation at St Gallen, Switzerland

Singapore Youth Delegation paid a courtesy call on His Excellency, Flavio Cotti, President of Switzerland at the President's Office in Berne, Switzerland.

H.E. Ulrich Stöckling, Minister for Education provided the Singapore youth an insight into the political system in Switzerland at the House of Parliament in St Gallen, Switzerland.

In 1998, the NYAA Council sent a group of ten Business Studies Students from the four polytechnics and two universities to Switzerland from 21 May - 30 May 1998.

During their visit, the Singapore Youth Delegation visited an army installation, the Young Entrepreneur's Company, studied the Swiss educational and apprenticeship system, visited companies and a bank, industrial organisation and the Swissair training centre, the university and vocational school in St Gallen.

The highlight of the programme was to attend the 28th International Management Symposium where world renown speakers such as Lord Griffiths, S. Venkitaramanan, David de Pury and Supachai Panitchpakdi were guest speakers.

The youth delegation was briefed on the Swiss Political System by the Minister for Education of St Gallen, Ulrich Stöckling. The Singapore Youth Delegation also paid a courtesy call on His Excellency, Flavio Cotti, President of Switzerland at the President's Office in Berne. They visited the Headquarters of the Christian Democratic Party and met two members of Parliament there.

The group was given a rare treat by the Swiss Air Force to fly in a military helicopter from St Gallen over the Alps to view the spectacular Swiss Alps from the air.

The NYAA youth delegation was led by Ms Zaibun Siraj, Director, International Liaison unit, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and NYAA Council Member.
