SINGAPORE YOUTH DELEGATION TO SWITZERLAND 31 May - 13 June 2004 |

Ten NYAA Gold Award holders and participants, led by Thomas Tan, Student Development Officer from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, represented Singapore in Switzerland for the Singapore-Switzerland youth exchange programme from 31 May -13 June 2004. The youth were tasked with making observations on the Swiss political and educational systems, industries, environment and culture. They were taken on guided tours to places that reflected these themes such as the energy saving house, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research, the incineration plant of Bazenheid and the University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil, where they attended a conference on the environment and energy. The youth were also able to meet Swiss politicians Hans Ulrich Stockling, Minister for Education of the State of St. Gallen, and Erika Forster, Member of Parliament. The group
particularly enjoyed the homestay part of the programme where they got
to experience Swiss life with their hosts and newfound friends.
