An 11-member Swiss Youth Delegation from the University of St Gallen and the Vocational School Lindenhof in Wil visited Singapore from 1 to 8 July 1997.

The Swiss delegation was warmly received by the NYAA Council who hosted a welcome dinner at the National University of Singapore Society. The event was graced by Yatiman Yusof, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Information and the Arts and attended by the Swiss Counselor F.von Atzigen, guests, participants and youths of past youth exchanges.

The Swiss youth delegation started their programme by visiting the Marsiling Ward, Sembawang GRC and witnessed a "Meet-the-People Session" conducted by Hawazi Daipi, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC.

During their visit to Singapore, the Swiss Youth Delegation also visited various places of interest, the Swiss Embassy, Swiss School, the Port of Singapore Authority, Nanyang Technological University, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, National Youth Centre, Tampines Town Council, Oh Chin Huat Hydroponics, Orchid Ville, Union Bank of Switzerland and Boncafe International Pte Ltd.

One of the highlights of the visit was to attend the Opening of the Singapore Youth Festival where they had the opportunity to meet RAdm Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence and other Ministers and Members of Parliament.
