| Swiss
Youth Delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister
for Communications at the Ministry of Communications. With the Minister
are Mr W.E. Huber, Group Chairman, Boncafe International Pte Ltd,
H.E. Mr Raymond Loretan, Swiss Ambassador and Mr James Soh, NYAA

An
11-member Swiss Youth Delegation from the University of St Gallen and
a vocational school in Wil, Switzerland visited Singapore from 29 June
to 7 July 1998. The Swiss Youth Delegation was led by Mr Pascal Scheiwiller,
President, Association for Youth Exchange Singapore Switzerland.
The youth exchange programme began with a welcome dinner graced by Mr
Yatiman Yusof, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Information
and the Arts at the National University of Singapore Society Kent Ridge
Guild House on 1 July 1998.
The Swiss Youth Delegation also called on the Minister for Communications
and Chairman, NYAA Advisory Board, Mr Mah Bow Tan on 3 July 1998 at
the Ministry of Communications. Here the group engaged in a lively discussion
with the Minister.
On 4 July 1998, the Swiss Youth Delegation played a leading role in
the Singapore - Switzerland Youth Business Forum, where they were joined
by 150 students leaders from the Young Entrepreneurs Programme of the
NYAA.
The Youth Business Forum was opened by Ho Meng Kit, Managing Director,
Economic Development Board. During the forum, the NYAA also launched
the Singapore - Switzerland Youth Exchange Programme Alumni and unveiled
its logo.
The Alumni was created to provide opportunity for the reunion of former
youth exchange participants and to promote lasting friendship, understanding
and good-will between Switzerland and Singapore.
Besides the official functions, the Swiss Youth Delegation also visited
some Swiss and Singapore companies, tertiary institutions, places of
interest and an HDB housing estate. They also attended the Singapore
Youth Festival at the invitation of the Ministry of Education. The delegates
witnessed a "Meet-the-People" session conducted by Mr Hawazi Daipi,
Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC.
