Led by Ms Sieglinde Schnider, 11-member Swiss Youth Delegation visited Singapore from 28th June to 10th July 1999.

They were welcomed by Mr David Lim, Minister of State for Defence and Information and Arts, and Chairman, National Youth Council during a dinner held at NUSS, Kent Ridge Guild House on 30th June.

The highlight of the visitation for the Swiss youths was the courtesy call made on Minister for National Development and Chairman, NYAA Advisory Board, Mr Mah Bow Tan on 1st July 1999 at the Ministry of National Development, where they engaged in a lively discussion with the Minister.

At the Singapore Switzerland Youth Forum organised by NYAA Coucil at Orchard Hotel, youths from both countries shared and exchanged discussions about technology, new markets and how they may prepare themselves for the future.

At the forum, the Singapore Switzerland Youth Exchange website was launched by Dr John Chen, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Minister of State for National Development.

The youths had time for leisure activities and they participated in orientation camps held at Camp David as well as at Pulau Ubin. They even attended the opening of the Singapore Youth Festival where they met the Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, Rear Admiral Teo Chee Hean.
