An 11-member Swiss Youth Delegation led by a Swiss professor were in Singapore from 3 to 14 July 2002 as part of the annual bi-lateral youth exchange programme between Singapore and Switzerland.

Over the last eight years, the programme has helped enhance the good relationship between the two nations by promoting cross-cultural understanding among Singaporean and Swiss youths. Through face-to-face contact, it is hoped that young people from both countries will grow closer together.

This year's exchange featured a host of events focused on the theme of 'Globalisation and Education.'

The exchange programme was officially kicked off at a Welcome Dinner hosted by Mr Chan Soo Sen, Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Community Development and Sports, at the RELC International Hotel, Bougainvillaea Ballroom on 4 July 2002.

The exchange programme also included a discussion on Entrepreneurial Spirit with Mr Inderjit Singh, Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC, during a lunch at Parliament House on 5 July 2002.

On 8 July 2002, the group paid a courtesy call on Mr Hawazi Daipi, Parliamentary Secretary for Education.

Besides visiting Singapore's many cultural and heritage landmarks and getting a taste of Singapore's multicultural make-up, the group visited many leading Singaporean companies, to catch of glimpse of where the Singaporean business community is heading.
